Come and dance the fun Lindy Hop with us! SwingO organizes several courses with a suitable level for both beginners and advanced dancers.

Levels

Level 1: Beginners
Level 2: Intermediate Beginners
Level 3: Intermediate Advanced
Level 4: Advanced

Please note that you can participate in the same level for several years in a row since it is important to know the contents required in your level before moving on to the next one. The curriculum of each course also vary every year.

We aim to have even pairs on our weekly courses. You can register alone but by registering with a partner you will have a much better chance of getting in. The courses can fill up quickly so make sure to register early.

Lindy Hop dance courses in Oulu spring 2024

Come join our Lindy Hop courses in spring term 2024! See more information about the courses below. Membership fee will be added to the course fee unless you have already paid it for the ongoing season. You can also register just as a member, which gives you access to our ‘members only’ events and practise hours.

There are following discounts available:

10 € discount for participants of the autumn 2023 courses when registering by December 23rd, 2023 (no additional discounts)
5 € discount for students, unemployed and seniors with an applicable certification
If participating in more than one course, the additional course costs 40 € (instead of the full price)

Beginners course, Lindy Hop (Level 1)

Time: Tuesdays at 19.15–20.30 (12 classes in total)
Place: Kulttuuritalo Valve, dance hall 3 (Hallituskatu 7, 90100 Oulu)

Classes: January 16th - April 9th, 2024 (No classes on March 5th)

Intermediate beginners, Lindy Hop (Level 2)

Participants of intermediate beginners know the Lindy Hop basics. You have participated in classes on level 1 or you have danced Lindy Hop weekly for about a year. You know the basic steps and basic moves of Lindy Hop, such as Swing out, Lindy circle and Side-by-side Charleston. You know how to dance with a partner and you already have the courage to participate in Lindy Hop dances and events.

intermediate advanced, Lindy Hop (Level 3)

Dancers on intermediate advanced level are already pretty far in their Lindy Hop dancing. You have participated in classes on level 2 or danced Lindy Hop weekly for several years. You go to Lindy Hop dances actively and have perhaps participated in workshops in Finland or abroad. You know how to play with rhythms and your dance vocabulary is quite extensive.

advanced, Lindy Hop (Level 4)

Time: Wednesdays at 17.15–18.30 (12 classes in total)
Place: Koskelan päiväkoti (Koskela daycare center) (Tuulaakitie 3, 90560 Oulu)

Classes: January 17th - April 10th, 2024 (No classes on March 6th)

Advanced level participants are confident Lindy Hop dancers. You have danced Lindy Hop for many years and you are a familiar sight in Lindy Hop dances and events. You can naturally vary your dance and your dance vocabulary is extensive. You know how to improvise according to the music’s rhythm, melody and dynamics - together with your dance partner.
